The Telsor RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system is widely utilized for long travel positioning of yard machines such as stackers, reclaimers, and shiploaders. It operates using the Telsor LF 148kHz Smart Antenna System, with LF tags installed at predefined intervals along the rail. Dual antennas mounted on the machine detect these tags as it travels, ensuring accurate position tracking and resets the encoders if they have drifted. In environments where multiple machines operate in close proximity, positive positioning systems play a critical role in enhancing safety and operational efficiency. These systems help prevent collisions between equipment and ensure machines do not travel beyond the limits of their rails—avoiding costly damage and unplanned downtime. This setup, combined with high-resolution encoders are employed to monitor the movements of stackers and reclaimers long travel and provide precise feedback on the machine’s position, critical for accurate operation and control.

The R3 - 148 kHz low frequency range represents our original R-cubed product line; Rapid, Robust, and Reliable and first introduced in 1984. This proven technology continues to deliver dependable performance across a wide range of industrial applications.
The product range includes tags, readers, antennas, and interfaces, with systems configurable as standalone units or networked solutions supporting up to 16 readers. Multiple communication protocols are available, including Serial, TTL, Modbus RTU, and BCD, ensuring seamless integration with existing control systems.

The R cubed products excel at any industrial identification need where tough, 100% dependable systems are necessary. R cubed stands for Rapid, Robust and Reliable. The above images show Model 2024E Interface + Model 1845E addressable Reader + any Model 51xx series Read head.

A Tag or Transponder, carrying our proprietary EEPROM IC with 8, 16, or 32 characters of memory. Once this passive device enters the Read Head’s RF field it is powered up and begins transmitting its data. The 1781M1 tag is designed to be mounted directly on metal.

A Read Head/Antenna, powered by the Reader and linked via 12’ of supplied cable, constantly broadcasts an RF signal and waits for a Tag’s reply. Models 5100 and 5120 can also be mounted on metal but not screwed into a metal bracket

This Reader ports up to 4 addressable RFID Antennas with USB and Serial communications standard on all models, and further offer standard Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Devicenet, Modbus TCP & RTU. Two lines of I/O are also standard. This Reader can also write to RFID Tags and has a range tuning feature.

Our broad UHF Antenna line offers varying sizes as well as dBi from .5 to 12 to fit any range need and are available in circular, vertical or horizontal polarizations.

UHF-RFID Tags range from simple disposable inexpensive labels to high temperature metal mount industrially robust options, personnel and asset Tags, vehicle and pallet Tags, providing read ranges up to 90′ with anti-collision technology, the ability to read Tags en masse.
